Dr. Dan’s New Look
We haven’t been posting as much on social media the past few months due to some daunting health concerns which we have been working hard to overcome.
In October, I had blood clots in my leg. This is unusual for someone my age and who is as active as I am. My family doctor drew blood and noticed an irregularity in the liver. She sent me for an abdominal ultrasound which revealed suspicious masses so I went for further tests.
Long story short, cancer was found. The cancer caused thickening of the blood, leading to my having a stroke on Nov. 9th.
I was hospitalized, then went for rehabilitation to re-form brain pathways for the muscles on my left side which had been effected. In December, I began chemo to treat the cancer and I go every other Friday. Thankfully, the only side effect is an increase in fatigue. Also, I lost my hair. See new look in picture above. 🙂
The good news is that I am cleared to resume my practice! The doctor commented that while most people he sees become weaker with chemo, I have been getting stronger each time he sees me. I feel better when I can help people and I am grateful to be able to be productive and practicing again.
The prayers and good wishes from many of you are what helps my family and me get through these trying times. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I would love to see you. Please call for an appointment (630)665-5469.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dan
